Super selections and wonderful words by our favourite four-to-the-floor expert, The Insider.
Turbojazz opened 2023 with his wonderful Whateverism. Yuksek hyper polished his Dance ‘O’ Drome for all shiny modern disco dancefloors. Transmat protégé Kevin Reynolds oozed soul and class on Yoruba Records. Tom Trago treated us to electronic lullabies on Dutch giant, Rush Hour. French multi-instrumentalist Laroye charmed Local Talk. Soulful funkers Soul Clap celebrated 11 years on top of the game. Colombian renaissance man Felipe Gordon won hearts with his honesty on Errare Humanum Est. Session Victim were cooler than me, cooler than you, on Low Key, Low Pressure. Italian ensemble Aura Safari impressed on Hell Yeah Recordings, and some big guns, such as Kaidi Tatham, K15, and Gigi Testa, helped Sounds Familiar to shine. New York veteran Eli Escobar got down and dirty on The Beach. Powerhouse producer, Vince Watson, went in heavy on Another Moment in Time. Closing the year in fine festive style, Razor-N-Tape brought tidings of comfort and pure joy on their annual, tinsel-wrapped celebration, in the shape of Family Affair Vol.3.
