All Is Well / A Break In Time Extensions / Compost Records

During the COVID-19 pandemic, veteran deep house producer / DJ / performer Fred Everything put together a collection of largely beatless, IDM-influenced electronica. He released the album, titled A Break In Time, last year, under his All Is Well moniker. Now spun off from this set is a new E.P. containing a dub, a remix, and a previously unreleased track.

The original Cosmic Winter is house built in Jon Hassell’s Fourth World. Bouncing and bumping, full of machined chimes – mimicking ballaphon, marimba, and sanza. Its circuits chattering like alien fauna. Giving off futuristic rainforest vibes. Similar to the work of artists such as RamZi, it rides soft, shuffling, complex counter rhythms. Freshly dubbed it’s transformed into dark, rigid, electronic funk. Stamping and stomping with its new beat / EBM boots on, but sweetened, significantly, by modular melodies.

Tokyo’s Yuu Udagawa remixes a tune called Tranquility. Applying classic Detroit techno textures to a rippling, reverb-ed and delayed, percussive river. Sending soothing synths over “organic” loops. Managing to be body-moving without resorting to banging.

The new number is Isol8. Slow, serene, and perhaps a tad sad, melancholic, its big bass heavy echo is a bit like a Moments In Love reprise. The bottom end rattling speakers. The soft focus theme raising romantic thoughts and memories.

All Is Well’s A Break In Time Extensions is out now on Compost Records.
