With December here, Ban Ban Ton Ton is looking back on the musical year. Since Japanese superstition holds 7 as her luckiest number, we’re gonna try to keep each selection tight to this total, in the hope that our conjuring of 7 X 7 X 7 X … will collectively manifest some magic for 2025. You may witness some attempts to creatively bend the rules, blur / invent genres and rinse formats, in order to squeeze in as many great releases as possible…
Timm and Ampo aka Coyote have had another cracking year. Racking up releases on their label, Is It Balearic?, at the rate of around one a month. In their A&R capacity the pair licensed terrific 12s from the likes of Marius Circus, Max Essa, Lono Ritmo and Wrekin Havoc, while their own productions ranged from the mini-LP, Hurry Up And Live, to the dynamite dubwise single, Living In Heaven. Somehow they also managed to sneak in the odd E.P. and remix for friends, such as Phil Cooper and NuNorthern Soul and Chris Coco’s DSPPR. Ban Ban Ton Ton did its best keep up.
Super selections care of Coyote, aka Timm and Ampo.
