Eternal Love  / Ritmomento / Second Circle

Milanese duo Eternal Love, who’ve previously had music out on Planet Trip and Groovin Recordings, now make their Second Circle debut with a very strong EP that contains 3 new tracks, and 2 remixes.

All the original tunes conjure an authentic take on late `80s pop-dance. The light, accessible, chart-topping side of acid house. Borrowing both African rhythms and chants. Echo Danza, for example, is bouncing bionic afro. Imagine the talented Tigerbalm covering Mory Kante’s Ye Ke Ye Ke. Keys switching between Clavinet funk and exotic and kora-like.

Luna Manga boasts bigger beats, bigger bass, plus a drop of acid. Flashing back to 88 and Second Summer Of Love favourites, such Cultural Vibe’s Ma Foom Bey, Zanga Zanga, and Arthur Baker’s Shakedown Sound shake of Fleetwood Mac’s Big Love. Mechanical marimba tumbling twixt emotive symphonic swells and a faux Fairlight chorus. Amsterdam’s Masalo’s remix is pitched up, pacy-er, proggy-er, trance-y-er and fast forwards toward the early 90s.

Nakarap tames the tempo. Complimenting the lower BPMs with a slightly skanking synth riff. Londoner Esa then brings his full band in to totally transform the track. Delivering a classic dubbed-out disco journey that travels through dramatic stabbing orchestration, squelchy SFX and a huge filtered and phased breakdown. Hooks include happy highlife guitar, a warped whistle and vocals lost in a world of echo.

Eternal Love’s Ritmomento EP can be ordered directly from Music From Memory.
