Trevor Fung’s Bonus Balearic Beats

A short while ago we published an interview with “Balearic Beat” Original, Trevor Fung.

During the course of the conversation, Trevor revealed that in the process of compiling the scene-setting collection for FFRR, he was the person who gave the impossible-to-define genre a name. He also let it slip that 14 tracks were submitted, of which only 8 made the final cut.

Since then, somewhat predictably given our ardent / obsessive readership, Ban Ban Ton Ton has been subject to stacks of emails and messages, asking what those 6 “lost” songs were.

So, I guess there are no surprises here, but for the record, and for the state of completeness, here are Trevor’s Bonus Balearic Beats.

Elkin & Nelson – Jibaro

While the original compilation might have made it seem that the soundtrack at Amnesia in 1987  / 1988 was solely European pop and indie-rock, these omitted selections, I think, help to give a much more balanced view of the music that Alfredo and Leo Mas were actually spinning.

A big “Thank You” to Trevor, and Sharon at Shine PR.

Please don’t forget that you can catch Trevor DJing at the upcoming Campo Sancho Festival, taking place over the weekend starting July 29th.
