Super selections and wonderful words by Matt Masters. Idea instigated by The Insider.
Matt Masters drops his Worlds Collide E.P. on Freerange Records today. Matt’s been part of the furniture at the label for over a decade. Working closely with founders, Jamie Odell – aka Jimpster – and Tom Roberts, on everything involved in running “a very tight and successful” setup. Freerange has a huge following in South Africa, and fresh from a sellout tour of the country, Matt, here, shares a chart full of cuts that made those highly enthusiastic crowds jump for joy.
Apoena / Must Go Deeper
A lovely instrumental groover that keeps the bums shaking.
T.B.R.O.S. / So Confused (Rocco Rodamaal Remix)
This track is only 116BPM so it really makes you slow things down in the set but it still has a great energy that keeps pushing things forwards.
Milton Jackson & Matt Masters / Viaggio (Fred Everything Remix)
Fred did a great remix for Milton Jackson and I for this EP on Lazy Days. Sounds lovely on a club system too.
Massiande / I Feel It
Rolling beats and bass. Just what the doctor ordered.
SGVO / Amplified Zone
Another slow BPM track, around 117, but it`s HUGE! When the bass drops it just goes off.
Matt Masters / Once Again
I think I played this at every gig in South Africa. Mainly because I had a lot of requests from the crowd to play it! I`d been tagged in a few videos when South African DJs had been playing the track, when first I released the album a few years ago – so couldn’t wait to play it myself. Lots of memories of the crowd reactions when I played this one.
OVEOUS x Don Kamares / Legacy (Original Mix)
This rolls so well, and has a great shuffle that just makes you want to dance.
Jimpster & Rich Medina / This Thing
Jimpster’s iconic sound never fails. I always have a few Jimpster tracks in the bag just in case. This one was doing the rounds in South Africa.
Hyenah x Nanghiti / This Is Your Love
A big vocal track with a lovely melody and chord progression.
Jimpster & Matt Masters / No Normal
This track from Jimpster and I is nice and floaty, so it’s a good one to get lost in. The atmospheric vibes break the set up a bit.
Matt Masters / Worlds Collide
This is the title track from my new E.P. I played the Original and the SculpturedMusic Remix too at the various gigs. It’s kind of moody but uplifting too. I had some amazing reactions to both mixes.
Matt Masters` Worlds Collide E.P. is released today on Freerange Records.
