2023 / A Few Favourites / Mark Seven / Parkway Records

Mark Seven was one of London’s original Balearic Beat / Acid House converts. Week-in-week-out frequenting events such as Delirium, Future, and Shoom. With his friends he threw now legendary bashes in the UK’s Home Counties, under the banner “Bizarre”. However, I didn’t meet Mark until much, much later, when his A Slow Blow mix blew (sorry) everyone on the DJHistory.com forum away, at which point I began buying records from him, and his Jus’ Wax store. We’ve been friends ever since. For over a decade Mark’s been head honcho at that haven of house, Parkway Records, plus its offshoot Parkwest. As DJ, in 2023, he rocked floors from Fortim, in Brazil, to the hugely respected Houghton Festival. The label released the “dubbed out boogie dynamite” of Vibes.

Super selections & wonderful words by Mark Seven, of Parkway Records

These three were in my sets all year:

Acid Jerks / Utopia Vision / Flaneurecordings

Acid Jerks

Anthem strings and piano, like some Suburban Knight shiz, but in stealth mode.

Jovonn / Let The World Dance / Nu Groove

jovonn

Dark basement banger, Jovonn and Nu Groove still!

Ralph Session / Turn it Up & I Feel It  / Half Assed

Ralph Session

Depending on the time, I’d play either the skippy Turn or my chop of the bangin` Feel.

Bonus picks…

LP

Tom Carruthers / Future Wave / L.I.E.S.

Chill

Mr Beatnik / Wave Cascade / Mythstery Records

Oooh, and I forgot to mention my man Jamma Dee’s Perceptions… Some slick killers on there.
