After teasing with tracks, and some terrific remixes, Indonesian 5-piece Strangefruit have finally released their latest EP on Gentle Tuesday Recordings in full. If you’ve been paying attention you’ve likely already been blown away by the singles Iridescent and Monopolar, but there are now 2 more tunes to complete the package. 

Pouvoir Moteur is the perfect opener. A driving dose of motorik, packed with phased, flanged keys and modular manipulations, plus a soaring main synth. Putri Effendi provides cool, calm vocals. Their angelic ache surrounded slashed guitar arcs and effects that range from seagull like shrieks to racing gear changes.  

The other newly shared number, the title track, Drips, pays direct homage to My Bloody Valentine and Kevin Shields’ signature seesawing tremolo technique. Strangefruit’s guitars raising a wall of rushing sound, while the piece’s words are whispered deep in the mix. The song’s ringing riff immediately recalling MBV’s Soon.
