Music From Memory release the second volume of early tape works from the archives of Kuniyuki Takahashi. The selection less experimental, and more instantly accessible, than Volume 1. All of it chilled. Sampled shorelines, bird song, and traditional instruments – taiko, koto, shakuhachi – embellishing cinematic love themes. Played on Satie-inspired keys. Which fall like rain. From first spots to downpour. In and around whispering machines. Island updates Martin Denny`s Exotica, like Art Of Noise`s track of the same name. Echoes Of The Past is head-nodding Jazz. With stratospheric lead guitar. The orchestral Ai Iro shares the same deep midnight mood as the previous set`s Night At The Seaside. Imagination has Electric City hum, and Lynch / Badalamenti melancholy, slow dancing to the crash of big `80s drums. Almost In The Air Tonight. But not quite.
