This is just a bit of fun….to welcome the sun, at the beginning of a long weekend…
I pulled all my Moton Records Inc. 12s from the shelves, to compile a Top 10, and sorta celebrate Marc Roberts joining the London-based label`s roster. While these sides were out I figured I might as well have a go at slotting them all together. I sent the results to a few friends, who convinced me that I should put the mix online.
So here it is, for the U.K.`s May Day bank holiday – as if by magic coinciding with the start of Japan’s Golden Week.
For some this might be a dance down old Memory Lane, for others, well, be prepared, there are quite a few crackers…a lot of jazz, some house, gospel, funk, afro, the odd balearic beat, and even a little German kosmische. I think someone, somewhere, once called this heady, eclectic combination, “Heavy Disco”.
A big Thank You! to Moton for turning me on, many, many moons ago.
Of course, I own all the OG`s now ; )
