This is a really interesting release from Lexx. The producer, with a near 30 year pedigree and his roots in hip hop, has taken his beat making in all sorts of directions. From deep house into The Balearics. He certainly seems set on not being pigeon-holed and my guess is that he also enjoys learning new things and challenging himself. Earlier in 2026, he put out an EP on International Feel that found him moving into motorik, while the single that launched his new label, Unlimited Capacity, The Telomere’ “No Phones” was punky and funky. The imprint’s latest has Lexx stepping into further fresh sonic territory. Travelling closer toward pop. 

The original mix of “Palmy Daze” is bumping, jumping, perky house, with muted, bleep riffs and a whistling melody. Jex Opolis’ rework keeps the bounce, but adds cute vocals and break-derived drums. His B-line burps almost acidic. The results a little William Orbit. 

A “Surf Rider” version is kinda kitschy, like a polished Casio / Bontempi symphony, or a Stereolab (Miss) modulation inspired by `60s and `70s library music cues. The rhythm reduced to only a rattle. The package also boasts the bonus “Allure”, whose Italo disco homaging bass arpeggio harbours touches of tribal percussion and  snatches of psychedelic guitar.
