Singer / Songwriter Quinn Lamont Luke has been releasing tunes for ten years or so on a range of “Balearic” labels. Making music that ranges from Folk to House. Sometimes as a spar and band mate of Andy “Vetiver” Cabic, Shawn Lee and Tommy Guerrero. Or collaborating with Phil “Canotma” Mison, and Paul “Mudd” Murphy. This year he launched his own imprint, El Trianglo, with the Willowman-influenced single, Different Aspirations. Which was easily the best Blue-eyed Soul record of 2017.
I hooked up with Quinn about a year ago, in Tokyo, while he was in Japan on tour. I`d been reading Barney Hoskyns` book on Woodstock. Quinn had recently moved there. Since I was born and raised in South London, Dude, isn`t a word that slips smoothly into my vocabulary. Except for when describing Quinn. A nicer one you couldn`t hope to meet.
