2022 proved to be another terrific year for Mancunian musical magician Ruf Dug, at least in terms of releases and productions. With typical humour he christened tracks Manctalo Beach and Manctalo Banger, for labels International Feel and Caroline Hayes’ newly launched agency off-shoot, Spun Out. Ruffy remixed Double Geography into a rude digidub rumble for Nottingham’s original Balearic Networkers, Timm & Ampo, and gave Matt Sewell his Elephant Skank, as an exclusive for A Crushing Glow 2. Then, not content to manhandle Bianca’s early `90s White Isle “unclassic” Tabu, he also partnered up with Private Joy, aka Lovescene’s Pops Roberts, to create a future Balearic classic of their own in the form of Don’t Give In. Here, Mr. Dug delivers his list of personal favourites from the last 12 months.
