Jason Boardman is one half – the other being Moonboots – of Balearic Beat-keeping duo / party / label / institution, Aficionado. Aficionado enters its twentieth year in 2018. I asked Jason for a few personal highlights from 2017.
I had a great time at Love International so I`m looking forward to returning there in 2018, especially with it being 20 years of `Nado. We’ve got some nice records coming out next year, and hopefully a there`ll be compilation. We`ll also do a few events, starting with a John Stammers show on January 31st.
My favourite show of 2017 was Sarathy Korwar at The Great Escape in Brighton. I discovered him there, then disappeared into a wormhole of his work. I particularly loved the Emanative 45, Ominous Shanti, that he played percussion on. Seek it out.
